LOS ANGELES (August 24, 2016) Boxing’s Two Best Pound-For-Pound Fighters and two of the sport’s biggest stars, Unified Middleweight World Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, (35-0, 32KO’s) and WBC Flyweight World Champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, (45-0, 38 KO’s), hosted Joint Media Workouts yesterday from their training camps at the The Summit High Altitude Training Facility in Big Bear Lake, California.

Joining them was Golovkin’s trainer, 2015 Trainer of the Year, Abel Sanchez, Gonzalez’s manager Carlos Blandon along with K2 Promotions’ Managing Director Tom Loeffler. (continue reading…)

Windy City Fight Nights Return to Chicago on Saturday, October 1

CHICAGO — On Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Warriors Boxing Promotions will resurrect the legendary “Windy City Fight Nights” series of boxing shows with an event featuring a pair of unbeaten locals in separate co-main-events.

Headlining the first Windy City Fight Night in four years will be super lightweight Ramiro “El Lobito” Carrillo (11-0, 7 KOs) and super welterweight Achour Esho (11-0, 7 KOs) in eight-round (Carrillo) and six-round (Esho) bouts against opponents to be announced. (continue reading…)

One of the greatest boxers of all time, Duran went on to win world titles in four weight divisions, retiring at age 50 with a record of 103 wins (70 by knockout) and 16 losses. ​

Chicago Boxers’ Reunion a Smash!

This past Friday, on August 19th at Bourbon Street in south suburban Chicago, I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd annual Chicago Boxer’s Reunion. And let me tell ya, I was like a kid in a friggin’ candy store.

This reunion was not ‘fighter inclusive’. It was open to the official, the writer and most of all, the fan. It was just as well, as I did not have the lengthy career some of these stalwarts of pug-alley experienced. However, they made me feel as welcome as a unanimous decision in their favor.
