Dibella Entertainment Continues Partnership with New York Daily News Golden Gloves For 4th Consecutive Year

NEW YORK - For the fourth consecutive year, DiBella Entertainment (DBE) has secured the broadcast rights for the New York Daily News Golden Gloves finals. This year, the NY Golden Gloves, which is one of the preeminent amateur tournaments in the world and a New York institution, celebrates its 90th anniversary. The finals take place tonight at New York City’s Manhattan Center and on Saturday at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn.

Since 1927, local boxers in New York have competed for the chance to win a Daily News Golden Gloves championship. The tournament was a launching pad for world champions such as Emile Griffith, Jose Torres, Floyd Patterson, Riddick Bowe, Mark Breland, Zab Judah and Daniel Jacobs. Thus far, 42 Golden Gloves medalists have gone on to win professional world championships.

US Olympian Charles Conwell Set For Pro Debut Tonight At Buffalo Run Casino, Miami, OK

New York, NY/Miami, OK (4/21/17) – Tonight at Buffalo Run Casino, in Miami, OK, US Olympian Charles Conwell makes his much-anticipated pro debut, as part of an event promoted by Holden Productions and DiBella Entertainment. Although the contracted weight limit was 157 pounds, Conwell weighed in at a trim and ready 154 pounds, hungry to prove that he is serious about becoming a force in the junior middleweight division.

Conwell, of Cleveland, OH, comes from a boxing family, as he and all eight of his siblings were enrolled in the sport at a young age by their father Charles Sr. A highly accomplished amateur who represented the United States in the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Conwell amassed an impressive record of 132-14 and was also an 11-time National champion. Co-promoted by DiBella Entertainment and Holden Productions, and managed by David McWater’s Split-T Management, the 19-year-old Conwell is anxious to test his fan-friendly style in the pro ranks. LAS VEGAS – Cruiserweight world champion Beibut Shumenov (17-2, 11 KOs) suffered an eye injury in training on Wednesday and will not be able to defend his title against Yunier Dorticos (21-0, 20 KOs) in the main event of a special Saturday night edition of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes, April 29 from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas.

Shumenov-Dorticos has been postponed until Shumenov has completely healed from his injury. It will be rescheduled as soon as Shumenov is healthy enough to return to training. There is no timetable yet on when he is expected to return from the injury.

WBA Interim Featherweight Champion Carlos Zambrano (26-0, KOs) defending his title against once-beaten contender Claudio Marrero (21-1, 15 KOs) has been elevated to the main event. (continue reading…)
