“ICE” John Scully, trainer of World Boxing Counsil Light Heavyweight Champion Chad Dawson, decided to share his initial gut reaction to his fighter’s decision to fight World Boxing Association and WBC Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward on September 9th.

“Bottom line, ‘Bad’ Chad Dawson wanted this fight and made it happen, period.  He called the man out on TV and was open to making it happen by any means necessary,” says Scully.

“Again, you don’t have to be a fan of the guy but you MUST give him his respect because if all boxers were as easy to deal with as him, boxing would be the greatest game on earth!

“He made every concession he had to just because he didn’t want to lose out on such an opponent.”

“The wait in the dressing room before a professional boxing match -that last hour- could be enough to strip a man who never boxed before of whatever pride, desire and heart he THOUGHT he had.” – Iceman John Scully, April 2002
