The state of Oregon has seen a rapid decline in the number of shows it hosts over the last few years. Other than an occasional show in the Southern part of the state, there has been no consistent venue where the state’s many talented fighters can showcase their skills. This Saturday Warm Springs Nation Boxing hopes to change that as it hosts its first Pro- Am show at the Warm Springs Community Center. The hope is that this can be the first of many cards of its kind in the Central Oregon region. The show will be a part of the three day long Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days event held every year in Warm Springs, Oregon.

Headlining the card will be long time Northwest stalwart Osvaldo “Waldo” Rojas, of Portland,OR, taking on Toppenish, Washington’s Ryan Phillips in an intriguing six round welterweight match-up. Rojas, who’s been a pro since 2005, has built a reputation in the Pacific Northwest as a tenacious, well-skilled fighter with a big heart. In 2012, he gave northwest fight fans two memorable wars against Yakima, Washington’s Nate Serrano going 1-0-1 in that series. In his most recent outing he lost to undefeated prospect Michael Finney in Las Vegas.

Phillips is a tough, rangy fighter with experience in both boxing and MMA. He is coming off a competitive loss to Randell Corpuz last March.

In the co-main event undefeated heavyweight Juan Esquivel is expected to see action, although an opponent has not been locked down yet. Esquivel has scored all three of his professional wins by knockout.

Fifteen amateur bouts featuring fighters from all over the northwest will round out the undercard.

In addition to boxing, the Pi-Ume-Sha celebration will also feature a parade, a rodeo, a powwow, golf, and a number of other activities for visitors starting Friday and ending on Sunday. Saturday events will kick off at 7am with a breakfast and a parade set to follow at 10am. The boxing portion of the day’s festivities will take place at the Warm Springs Community Center located at 2200 Hollywood Blvd., Warm Springs, Oregon 97761.

Doors will open at 2pm with the first bout set to start at 3pm. Tickets priced at $10 for general admission and $25 for ringside can be purchased at the door.
