The Little Creek Casino in Shelton, Washington is quickly becoming a premier venue for high level boxing in the Pacific Northwest. In the last year they have staged a number of high profile events including cards televised by Show Time and ESPN.  This Friday, the venue once again hosts a show featuring some of the best up and comers in the sport with a stacked ten bout card, promoted by Goosen Tutor Promotions.

The card will be broadcast by ESPN2 and is headlined by an intriguing light heavyweight match-up between undefeated Thomas Williams and former world champion Gabriel Campillo in what promises to be an all action bout. Williams has been on a roll as of late, looking very impressive in his last few fights, taking out former top contenders Enrique Orenlas and Cornelious White by TKO. His bout against White featured one of the wildest first rounds in recent memory with both fighters touching the canvass in an all out slugfest before Williams was able to punctuate the fight, stopping his opponent in the same round. This opponent will mark the best opposition he’s faced in his twenty six fight career.

Campillo, a slick southpaw with a wealth of experience, was once touted as one of the best fighters in the 175 lbs. division, holding the WBA title and claiming a disputed win over Beibut Shumenov. But subsequent losses to Shumenov, Andrej Fonfara, Tavoris Cloud and Sergey Kovalev have left him at a crossroads. A win against Williams would put him back in the title picture. A loss could mean the end to a great run.  The bout is scheduled for twelve rounds.

The undercard is highlighted by a very interesting rematch between undefeated Juan Funez, of Reseda, California, and Renton, Washington’s Marcelo Gallardo. The two fought in January in a very close four round bout that saw Funez take a unanimous decision win. They will square off again in a four round featherweight bout.

Welterweight prospect Jessie Roman will take on Peter Olouch in a showcase bout. Roman, who is 17-1 with 9KO’s, is working his way back up the ladder after suffering his first defeat last year. He’ll have a tough opponent in Ouloch who’s been in with some very good opposition.

Nigerian prospect Wale Omotoso will also look to get his career back on track after suffering his first defeat . The welterweight power puncher had gone undefeated in 23 bouts, beating notables Lanardo Tyner, Emanuel Augustus, and Nestor Rosas, before losing to Jessie Vargas last March. He will look to shake off the rust of an 18 month lay- off against tough competitor Eduardo Flores. Six other exciting bouts round out the undercard.

The doors open at 5pm with the first fight scheduled to start at 6pm. Tickets to the event Page 1 of 2Page 2 of 2are still available and can be purchased at the casino box office or online at https:// www.little-creek.com/entertainment/ The Little Creek Casino is located at 91 W State Route 108, Shelton WA 98584.
