Each month the CBZ will honor one fighter, past or present, that has served in the United States military. Our inaugural Active Duty member to be recognized is Camp Pendleton’s Corporal Brandi Montoya of the United States Marine Corps.

Originally hailing from Los Lunas, New Mexico, Montoya is a tough and aggressive bantamweight southpaw that has compiled a 5 -2 professional ring ledger and is set to make her return in front of her home base in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 11 against an opponent and venue TBA.

A Martial Artist before she took up prizefighting, Montoya last fought on October 27, 2012, where she trained at Rosales Karate and Kickboxing for her fights. After that time, Montoya enlisted in the USMC and is now poised to resume her professional boxing career.

Corporal Montoya realizes that clean living, sacrifice, dedication to her craft and hard work everyday are the key elements to success in the prize ring. We at the CBZ wish this brave and determined battler continued success in both her military and fighting career.

A grateful nation thanks you for your service.

*Dedicated to United States Navy Veteran Julie A. Swafford. Rest In Peace, My Love. I shall never forget your acts of kindness.*
