MONTREAL, CANADA, August 21, 2010 — Next Saturday night, August 28th, sensational lightweight prospect ‘OMINOUS’ Omri Lowther will battle former world title challenger Edner ‘CHERRY BOMB’ Cherry in the ESPN2 televised main event from the Club Metropolis in Montreal, Canada, it was announced today by Groupe Yvon Michel.

Based in Toronto, Canada, the 26 year old Lowther has amassed a record of 14-1-0 with ten knockouts since turning professional four years ago. The Atlanta, Georgia native is on a five bout winning streak, most recently stopping Isaac Bejarano in the fifth round on July 30th in Cancun, Mexico.

Now campaigning as a lightweight, 28 year old Cherry challenged junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in September 2008, losing a very close twelve round decision. Since moving down to lightweight, Cherry, 27-6-2 (15KO’s), has won three in a row by early knockout, stopping Delvin Placencia on February 27th in Augusta, Georgia.

The challenge by Lowther represents a true test as the veteran Cherry is much more experienced at a world class level. Lowther is very highly regarded in Canadian boxing circles and a win over Cherry would truly validate his reputation as a future world champion.
