CICERO, IL – This Friday night, hometown welterweight prospect Adrian Granados (10-2-1, 6 knockouts) faces a rugged test in Chicago’s undefeated Antonio Canas (6-0-1, 3 knockouts) at the Cicero Stadium, a building that resembles an old YMCA built in the 1950s located in an industrial side of town. About seven miles from downtown Chicago, it’s perfect for Granados, whose gritty, nonstop slugging calls to mind the golden age of 50′s boxing. As an amateur, Granados accumulated a record of 75-10, winning the Junior Olympic State and Regional Championship and was ranked fifth nationally at junior lightweight in 2008 and won the Golden Gloves National championship and the bronze medal at the Ringside World Championships in 2009. He was also a reserve on the Mexican Olympic Team. (continue reading…)
