Responding to rampant speculation over who will appear in their historic August 16 boxing event at the Chicago White Sox’ U.S. Cellular Field stadium, Chicago-based boxing promoter Dominic Pesoli and his partners, Frank Mugnolo of Round 3 Productions and Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing, say fans are going to have to wait.
“We don’t know who is on the show. We know it’ll be incredible and we’re working on several blockbuster match-ups, but it’s still very much in the air,” said Dominic Pesoli. (continue reading…)

CHICAGO, July 13, 2012 – The last time Andrzej Fonfara fought on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights, he was stopped inside two rounds. That was four years and two days ago, to be precise, at the Aragon Ballroom, and his opponent was Derrick Findley, a squat and muscular, hard-slugging brawler.
Six foot-two and 160 lbs. back then, Fonfara looked like a spindly fawn trying to fend off a hungry bulldog with quick, sharp pokes from its left forepaw. He was surprisingly effective until the roof crashed down on him in the second. (continue reading…)

CHICAGO, February 18, 2012 – There is something to be said for hard physical labor. It toughens a person, inside and out. Working the fields and farmlands, one learns the importance of getting the job done – you don’t work, you don’t eat. It’s not glorious; it’s humbling. It’s demanding. It requires discipline. What’s more, bad weather can erase a season’s yields and send one scrambling to salvage what’s left for another go. You learn to make do with resources stretched thin, day-in and day-out, in hopes of reaping a robust harvest.
Even the apostle Paul tipped his hat to such endeavors when he said, “a man reaps what he sows.” (continue reading…)
