ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Tonight at Bally’s Event Center, Glen “Jersey Boy” Tapia (21-1 13 KOs), of Passaic, NJ, faces Donatas Bondaravas  (18-5-1, 6 KOs), of Chicago, in a 10-round jr. middleweight rumble. Also featured on the card will be super middleweight Jesse Hart, (14-0, 11 KOs), of Philadelphia vs. Robert Jose Acevedo (8-2, 5 KOs), of Bayamon, Puerto Rico for 8 rounds.

HAMMOND, IN, March 1, 2014 – It could have been him facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. tonight on HBO instead of Brian Vera – but for a translation error.

In a compelling seesaw battle televised by ESPN last March, the Lithuanian Donatas Bondaravas suffered cuts to the bridge of his nose and the inside of his right eye, prompting referee Charlie Fitch to ask him between rounds if he could still see.  His trainer, Sam Colonna, who was acting as interpreter, translated his response as “not good” and then despite protests, the bout was halted in the seventh round in favor of Vera, who ironically lost a controversial decision to Chavez last September in his biggest payday and faces him again tonight. CHICAGO, IL, June 20, 2010 – Last night at the UIC Pavilion, several popular and successful Chicago-based  amateur boxers made their pro debuts at 8 Count Productions’ Windy City Fight Night 10, which also featured some up and coming young punchers. It was a sweep for the home team, with the host boxers winning every bout, but the evening featured some exciting matchups that kept the crowd cheering throughout as some of the visitors earned their respect as well with some scrappy performances in their quests for upsets.

First in the ring were middleweights in a bout scheduled for six rounds: Gary, Indiana’s Keon ‘Neon’ Monte Johnson (157 lbs., 8-3-0) and Donatas Bondoravas of Chicago by way of Lithuania (157lbs., 6-1-1).  Johnson established his jab early, with Donatas looking for power shots. Bondoravas made short work of his Chicago debut, overwhelming Johnson, who looked more tentative as the round progressed, with powerful punches before landing the knockout right hook at 2:33 of the first round.
