The career of unbeaten Northwest cruiserweight prospect Mike Wilson continued its resurgence last Saturday night at the Jackson County Expo Compton Arena in Central Point, Oregon. Fighting in the headline bout of White Delight Promotions’ second card in three months, Wilson defeated Brownsville, Texas’ Juan Reyna in emphatic fashion with a one punch body shot knockout.

As the bout got underway Wilson (12-0, 6 KOs) patiently stalked, working behind his jab and following up with straight rights. Reyna (5-5-1, 2 KOs) proved to be a crafty fighter, unloading with a few well placed right hand counters to the chin of Wilson that seemed to momentarily disrupt his rhythm early on. Wilson, though, kept a steady tempo, working behind his jab and pushing his way in close with precise power shots to the head and body. In the second round Wilson stepped up his pace and found his mark with a thunderous right to the ribcage, sending Reyna down withering in pain where he would stay. Referee Ed Collantes reached the count of ten at 1:10, giving Wilson the KO win. (continue reading…)
