LAS VEGAS (April 2, 2012) – The Saturday, May 4 “MAY DAY: Mayweather vs. Guerrero” SHOWTIME PPV telecast fight line-up is complete with the addition of former IBF Bantamweight World Champion Leo Santa Cruz facing veteran Alexander Munoz in a 10-round junior featherweight fight and rising middleweight star J’Leon Love squaring off against recent world title challenger Gabriel Rosado in a 10-round battle. These bouts, in addition to the already announced Daniel Ponce de Leon vs. Abner Mares 12-round title fight for Ponce de Leon’s WBC Featherweight World Championship, will set the stage for the world title clash between Eight-Time and Five Division World Champion Floyd Mayweather and Six-Time and Four-Division World Champion Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

“I’m so excited to be fighting on this card on such the big Cinco de Mayo holiday weekend,” said Santa Cruz. “I have been very fortunate to have fought on great events so far in my career, but this is the biggest stage yet. Joint Statement from Team Guerrero, Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions

by on Mar.29, 2013, under Boxing News, Press Releases

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 28, 2013 — Early this morning Six-Time and Four Division World Champion Robert Guerrero was checking in his luggage at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, bound for Las Vegas, and, as he was doing so, made sure to advise the authorities that they needed to be aware that he had a firearm, which was unloaded and in a locked safe box with his luggage to be checked.  Guerrero was carrying no ammunition and was within his legal right to possess such firearm in the state in which he resides.  He was then arrested.  At an arraignment held before the New York State Supreme Court for Queens County, the court, after hearing the pertinent facts of the case, released Guerrero on his own recognizance.  The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for after Robert’s May 4 fight against Eight-Time and Five-Division World Champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

We are very pleased Robert Guerrero was released on his own recognizance this afternoon in the wake of this incident and that he is on his way back to Las Vegas to continue training for his highly anticipated May 4 bout against Mayweather.

SAN JOSE, CA, July 28, 2012 — Questions were answered, tempers flared and the fans were treated to one of the most consistently action packed cards of the year at the HP Pavilion in Downtown San Jose. Local favorite Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero earned a hard fought unanimous decision against the never-say- die Turk, Selcuk Aydin.

Selcuk Aydin (23-0 (17 kos) entered the ring first to ear deafening boos but seemed to enjoy his moment in the spotlight albeit in a negative light, relishing the villain role as he smiled and laughed on his way to the ring. There were a handful of Turkish flag waving fans sprinkled throughout the arena that more than made up for their small numbers with loud chants of “Selcuk, Selcuk, Selcuk”, this showing of support for the foreign “enemy” fighter further spurred the local Guerrero supporters into a frenzy. Robert Guerrero crashes the Welterweight division against undefeated power puncher Selcuk Aydin on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Pre-Fight Analysis by Christopher Morgan

SAN JOSE, CA, July 27, 2012 – In a fight with huge stakes not only for both men, but for the health of boxing and its deepest division, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, the native son of the South Bay Area is taking a massive leap up in weight if not so much in class when he takes on undefeated slugger Selcuk Aydin of Turkey.

Robert Guerrero of Gilroy, California — about 30 miles south of San Jose — has had his share of outside the ring troubles that have caused a couple of lengthy layoffs over the past 6 years, the most serious involving his wife’s near fatal bout with Cancer. Guerrero of “The Ghost” as he is referred to by most fans, is now making yet another comeback, this time from a rotator cuff injury that has kept him sidelined for the past 16 months, and if we know anything about Guerrero bouncing back, he usually handles it with aplomb. Guerrero’s last three contests have been against the respectable trio of Joel Casamayor, Vincente Excobedo and Michael Katsidis, the three of which carried a combined record of 86-9-1, with all bouts at or near the Lightweight limit of 135 pounds.
