CHICAGO — According to Boxing.com, boxing referee Pete Podgorksi was inducted into the 10th Annual Illinois State Martial Arts Hall of Fame on March 29th in Homewood, Illinois.  Sam Colonna, a longtime trainer from the Windy City, was recognized by the organization last year when it decided to include boxing in its roster.  (continue reading…)

CHICAGO — The Illinois State Martial Arts Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring martial artists from Illinois who participated in, and/or contributed to the Martial Arts in Illinois.  Founded in 2005 by Fred Richmond, the HOF director is Mike McNamara.

The Illinois State Martial Arts Hall of Fame elects Martial Arts professionals such as officials and participants from karate, judo, wrestling and other MMA along with the recent addition of professional boxing.  (continue reading…)

Chi-Town’s ‘Battle of the Boxing Clubs on Thursday, Aug. 22!

CHICAGO — Rick Ramos and Sam Colonna present “Battle of the Boxing Clubs!” This is a “White Collar” event.  All clubs are welcomed.  You must be 21 or older to compete, have less than three fights, and you MUST be licensed.

Rick Ramos Opens a New Boxing Gym in Chicago!

CHICAGO — Rick Ramos again surprises everyone by annoucing the opening a new boxing gym and will part ways with the Chicago legend Sam Colonna. Ramos jumped into the boxing scene seven years ago as he partnered with Colonna to start Chicago Boxing Club.  As most expected, CBC was a success. Colonna and Ramos won four Chicago Golden Glove team titles.   CBC will close November 30, 2012.

As both agreed to part ways, Ramos and Colonna will open their respected gyms. Colonna plans to reopen Windy City Boxing Club at 2600 w. 35th street and Ramos will open Body Shot Boxing Club at 600 w. Cermack in Chicago. The Chicago boxing scene should be excited about having two good trainers (amongst others) heading their own gyms. (continue reading…)
