Cervantes was a talented competitor whose ring skills won a world title for him; He compiled a career record of 91-12-3 with 44 knockouts; During his career, he captured the WBA Light Welterweight Championship of the World and the WBC FECARBOX Light Welterweight Championship

Antonio defeated such men as Nicolino Locche, Esteban De Jesus, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Alfonzo "Peppermint" Frazer, Saoul Mamby, Hector Thompson, Shinichi Kadota, Victor Ortiz, Chang Kil Lee, Lion Furuyama, Miguel Montilla, Norman Sekgapane, Carlos Maria Gimenez, Adriano Marrero and Lennox Blackmoore

Herb Goldman ranked him as the #25 All-Time Lightweight; He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1998 and named Colombia's Boxer of the Century in 2000
