WBO Welterweight Champion Ahmed Kotiev to fight rematch against Daniel Santos

Neuss, April 18, 2000. German based Russian Ahmed Kotiev will fight a rematch against Puerto Rican Daniel Santos on May 6 in Neuss.

The 24-year-old Santos was the last opponent of WBO welterweight champion Kotiev. The competitive and highly entertaining fight ended with a close split decision over twelve rounds in favor of the title holder.

It will be the fifth defense for the 32-year-old WBO champion Kotiev who won the title in February of 1998. The Hamburg based fighter is undefeated in 26 fights including one no contest. Santos' record stands at 20 wins, two losses and one draw. Both fighters scored 15 knockouts in their careers.

In two other championship bouts that evening WBC cruiserweight world champion Juan Carlos Gomez and European super lightweight titlist Oktay Urkal will make defenses of their laurels.

The undercard will feature up and coming prospect and German light heavyweight champion Thomas Ulrich as well as former German heavyweight champion Kim Weber.

The site will be the Swissotel arena. Premiere World is broadcasting the event live in Germany.
