Holberg was a muscular, sturdy scrapper who battled some very good men of his time and held his own

He was the Danish amateur featherweight champion in 1902 and won the Danish amateur lightweight championships in 1903, 1905, 1907 and 1908; Waldemar represented Denmark in the 1908 Olympics as a lightweight, losing a 4-round decision to future welterweight champion, Matt Wells, in his first fight

During his career, Holberg defeated such men as Bobby Dobbs, Ray Bronson and Frank Picato
