Monzon was one of the best middleweight fighters of recent years and an All-Time great. He possessed a complete arsenal of punches and hit with power; He was a clever, well-coordinated fighter who hit hard with each fist; In addition, he was never knocked out during his career

After a modest start to his career, three loses in the first two years, Carlos never lost again (he retired in 1977); His opposition has been questioned but there is no doubt he was one of the best middleweights ever to put on the gloves; As champion, he defended the title successfully 14 times

Herb Goldman ranked Monzon as the #2 All-Time Middleweight; Carlos was inducted into the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1983 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990
