Murray was a scrappy competitor and a good hitter with a beautiful right hand; He was quite muscular; Jimmy was a boxing instructor in Philadelphia early in his career

During his career, he defeated such men as Robert "Cocky" Turnbull, Bob Farrell and Tom Tully
