native of New Orleans, arrived in Philadelphia in August of 1911; In two
years of action in Philadelphia clubs, he held his own with such men as
Young Erne, "Young" Tommy Coleman, Joe Borrell, Jim Hosic, Emmett "Kid"
Wagner and George "Kid" Ashe
His most impressive bouts were his two contests with future the light
heavyweight champion, Battling Levinsky; Palmer knocked his man
