Salica was a boxer who got better as he gained experience; He developed a good jab, clever footwork and some inside fighting skills; He was clever and lost but 17 bouts in 91 contests; During his career, he won the NBA Bantamweight Championship of the World and the Bantamweight Championship of the World (as recognized by New York state)

He defeated such men as Manuel Ortiz, Midget Wolgast, Sixto Escobar, Richie Lemos, Jackie Jurich, Carlos "Indian" Quintana, Pete DeGrasse, Young Tommy, Joe Tei Ken, Pablo Dano, Little Pancho, Tony Olivera, Small Montana, Tommy Forte, Henry Hook, Georgie Pace, Lou Transparenti, Harry Bauman, Tony Dupre, "Young" Joe Roche, Fillo Julian Echevarria, Emilio Magana, Bobby "Pancho" Leyvas, Jerry Mazza and Johnny "Skippy" Allen
