Toweel was a talented boxer who had a very short career; Yet, he was extremely successful; He lost but 3 bouts in his 28 contests in the ring; Vic was a brother of fellow boxers Willie, Jimmy, Fraser and Allan; During his career, he won the Bantamweight Championship of the World, the Bantamweight Championship of the British Empire (Commonwealth), the Featherweight Championship of South Africa and the Bantamweight Championship of South Africa

He defeated such men as Manuel Ortiz, Jackie Paterson, Peter Keenan, Luis Perez Romero, Stan Rowan, Tony Lombard, Fernando Gagnon, Jim Kenny, Dan O'Sullivan, Bobby Boland, Ronnie Clayton, Theo Medina and Ed "Bunty" Doran
