Among those he defeated were Johnny Buff, Abe Goldstein, Terry Martin, Jimmy Wilde, Benny Schwartz, Georgie Marks, Bud Taylor, and Clever Sencio; Villa died of blood poisoning from an infected tooth 10 days after his last fight
Nat Fleischer ranked Villa as the #2 All-Time Flyweight; Charley Rose ranked him as the #2 All-Time Flyweight; Herb Goldman ranked him as the #5 All-Time Flyweight; He was inducted into the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1961 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994
