Walker is perhaps the most enigmatic and intriquing of black fighters; Even his nationality remains a mystery; He reportedly served on an American Man-of-War vessel in the United States Navy during World War I

He likely began fighting in Europe around 1919-1920; Using Italian citizenship, he battled his way to the Middleweight Championship of Europe; His best wins were over the British marvel, Len Johnson, and future world title claimant, Marcel Thil

His record is incomplete and several wins appear to be missing; For example, The Ring (August 1930) reported : "Jack Walker, the Italian-American, is fighting often and with success"
