Walker was one of the greatest boxers "pound-for-pound" who ever fought in the ring; He was strong, rugged and durable; He fought everyone - even men much heavier and did excellent work; Against men who weighed 9-19 pounds more than he, his record was 11-1; Against men who weighed at least 20 pounds more than he, his record was 10-1-2

Mickey won the Welterweight Championship and the Middleweight Championship during his career;
He also fought for the Light-Heavyweight Championship

Charley Rose ranked Walker as the #3 All-Time Middleweight; Nat Fleischer ranked him as the #4 All-Time Middleweight; Herb Goldman ranked Mickey as the #4 All-Time Middleweight; Walker was elected to the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1955 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
