Hi Guys,
These are numbers that I've compiled and calculated. You will find these nowhere else in the worl but here on "The Zone". They are WBA, WBC and IBF title fights from 1995-2005
As you can see, there is a vast dropoff in the amounts of knockouts being scored today versus 10 years ago. Also, despite the fact that there are 17 weight divisions and 3 champs per division, the number of title fights per year continues to dwindle.
With the knockout ratios in title fights down around 40%-45% it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out something is going on. My thoughts? (1.) The amateur game of pitty-pat punching is now having an effect on the pro game. (2.) Over regulation by doctors and state commissions has made boxing a "safer" sport. (3.) Referees that interrupt the flow of fights with too many warnings and frequent interruptions for minor infractions. (4.) Boxing gloves that are too padded and too soft.
