when i saw the title of this post the first name that came to mind was good ol' "Slapsie" Maxie Rosenbloom. lol

The funny thing is Rosenbloom could actually punch and was known as a tough guy on the streets in his youth who could knock you clean out if you were foolish enough to pick a fight with him. Granted he wasn't a big puncher by professional boxing standards, but he hit a LOT harder than the numbers indicate.

Nicolino Loche, The Hall Of Fame, former jr, welter champ, is missing from this list. He had 135 career bouts with only 14 KO's.

It is my understanding that both Tommy Loughran and Dave
Shade had to cope with hand injuries early in their respective
careers.

Loughran was something of a right hand puncher for the first half dozen or so of his pro matches, but then he broke that mitt and was never able to use it with power again. Luckily for him, he had a left and learned well how to utilize it. PeteLeo.

It appears that so many fighters acquired good boxing skills after
sustaining hand injuries.

What about the infamous Simmie Black (8 KOs in 201 TBs)? Simmie - who was one of the nice guys you'd ever want to meet, by the way - is sure making a lot of all-time lists these days!

How about Jr. welterweight champion Duilio Loi (26 KOs in 126 TB)?

(Sorry for being a Johnny-come-lately to this thread. I didn't join the group until recently.)

I kept the list to those guys at ten percent or under -- ie 10 or fewer kayos per hundred bouts.

Loi for example is at 21%, too high (!) for my purposes. Dupas at 14% also misses, although he may have the lowest percetage at jr welter champs.

I think there were plans to match Max Rosenbloom with Joe Louis
before Louis was to fight James J. Braddock, but I guess Louis's managers got a little too nervous that if Rosenbloom won(which a lot of people thought was possible)Louis wouldnt get to fight Braddock.

I didn't see Chief Crazy Horse on that list. He was a native American lightweight with over 100 bouts and only four kayos. Real name Frankie Martin He was one of two native American lightweights managed at first by by California's Wirt Ross, later by Poppy Zasker.
