a home town hero of my childhood.

raul was one of the original L.A. bad boys that also included mando ramos, frankie crawford and ruben navarro. all occasional friends and rivals. these were the type of fighters that you would see often in the ring at the olympic auditorium and then just as likely see them again at a local watering hole.

raul rojas was the first of L.A.'s early sixties boxing resurgence fighters to make a name for himself in the harbor area town of san pedro. a guy who could have been a jockey for his slight stature but became a fighter and walked the streets of san pedro like a giant. in those days he would show up at little league games, the local boys club and YMCA to hang out with us local harbor rats. he was our champ.

RIP champ,
you will not be forgotten,

greg
