I was there the night Ortiz fought Torres at the Los Angeles Coliseum, also on the card Jose Becerra won by ko over Alphonse Halimi in a rematch of their first title fight.

Carlos Ortiz was always one of my favorite fighters. Check out the shape the guy was in...not an ounce of fat on him.

It is my understanding that Carlos Ortiz had a great fight with
Lou Filippo at Hollywood Legion Stadium during the 1950s. I
remember Jim Healy saying that it was the best bout that he
ever saw.

The first Filippo fight ended on a NC-ND, I didn't see that fight but I did see the rematch which was pretty one-sided with Ortiz winning by ko, later on I seen his fight with Cisco Andrade at the Olympic, a fight that Ortiz won by a ten round decision.
