Don't know if this has been a topic before, but..
According to British historian Harry Mullan, Peter Kane vacated his flyweight championship i August 1939.
Thr Ring's ratings for this period also list the flyweight championship as "Vacant" from May(?) that year.
CBZ and other records books recognizes Kane's title reign as valid until he loses to Jackie Paterson in 1943.
But technically they were both challengers in that fight.
It shouldn't affect the actual title lineage though, because Paterson and Kane were rated as no. 1 and no. 2 respectively (by The Ring) at the time they met.
But Kane's title reign corrected as he per now is credited with being Champion for four years longer than even he himself considered himself the Champ.
