Were there any top tier black 175 pound contenders from 1925-1929? Looking at the Ring online rankings shows a couple who were just scatching the surface of the elite. But overall the death of Battling Siki and retirement of Kid Norfolk seems to have signaled the virtual disappearance of top level black fighters from the light heavyweight landscape until the arrival of John Henry Lewis, Tiger Jack Fox and Al Gainer in the 1930's. Is this an accurate statement? Or am I overlooking someone?

Billy Jones, who campaigned out of Philly + Pittsburgh was a top flight lightheavy with a win over Rosenbloom, also beat Braddock, Tony Shucco, Fred Leinhart, Larry Johnson, Tiger Thomas, Pete Latzo, George Nichols, Yale Okun and other good ones.
