Yes, I heard all those stories before. Chuck is a Great guy. There were several mistakes in the article.

Ali was floored 3 other times.
The bout with Ali didn't go the distance.
The bout with Liston was stopped after the 9th round.

BUT the stories wouldn't have been as good if he told the hold truth.

I'm glad YOU brought it up first, Henry. The last time I put anything contrary to Chuck's "official" boxing bio in a column, I was roundly condemned by his still-active fan base in Bayonne, LOL.

Not only did Ali/Clay get floored by Banks, Cooper and Frazier before Chuck put his best foot forward, becoming the only opponent to deck Ali with a RIGHT hand, but Chuck was also floored by Liston, Mathis and Foreman, IIRC.

Yes, I knew about the other times Wepner was floored as well.

Chuck always said that he floored Ali, saying that if it was a slip, why didn't Ali complain. I watched the film many times, and Chuck was right.

Also, Chuck always says that he is the only one that floored Ali, when Ali was the Champion, and that is correct as well. The others were when Ali wasn't the Champion.
