What Ramos?
Mando Ramos.
Arguello to strong for Mando...AA by KO late roundsOriginally Posted by vic_roc_13
Thought it would be Mando Ramos.
Mando Ramos was aggresive form what I have seen but he was adept at finding angles for his attacks, now Arguello did struggle with this but most often than not found a way to win by sheer attrition if need be, which this bout would probably turn into. Mando struggled with the strength and power of Sugar Ramos, actually struggle is too harsh but he was very wary of it throughout their bout, now Arguello to me is stronger, more powerful and quicker than Sugar Ramos.
I see Mando getting early sucess finding angles and catching Arguello, but as the bout wears on Arguello will start to time Ramos and land hard shots to head and body, he would probably cut up Mando as Laguna did and perhaps this would force a stoppage in the mid-rounds, if no I see Arguello's body work and power catching up with Mando as Arguello stops him in the late rounds.
actually mando was a very strong lightweight and started his career bigger than alexis. i just don't think that mando ever showed enough dedication to hang with arguello late.
i think mando had the ability to out box alexis if he would have chose that path but that was not in mandos nature. eventually he wears down and arguello cuts him up.
i was a big fan of mando and think he only gave a part of what he could have been. nights of wine, women and song was mandos down fall. i know because i shared some of those nights with mando.

Mando was a strong Lightweight, but against Sugar Ramos he was very wary of Sugar's strength and Sugar was a natural Featherweight, albeit perhaps the strongest Featherweight ever, but still.Originally Posted by gregbeyer
also Arguello was a very strong Featherweight and Super-featherweight who carried his weight well and was always strong.
I agree on your point on Mando Ramos's physce and dedication failing him, very good points there.
mando always said he could have ko'd sugar but he had to box more in order to protect his cut eyes. he had sugar reeling several times in that fight.

Odd call. If there's anything Arguello has going for him, it sure isn't strength.Originally Posted by kikibalt

I have never seen a bout of Alexis' where his strength was NOT a strength of his.
Not ever Pryor (at 140) MUSCLED Arguello around.

I agree that Arguello was to strong for Mando. Also, his precision punching would cut Mando to ribbons. I say Alexis by mid rounds stoppage.
Gato, if you don't think Arguello was strong, I think you better go back to reading your boxing books and learn some more about boxing.Originally Posted by El Gato
