    Wish this site would

    clarify a few things.

From 1980 to 1988 These supposed Yearly Pound for Pound Ring rankings, are simply the Year End Polls that were run first by KO Magazine and then by the Ring in the late 90's.

From 1989 on, they are using the ACTUAL Year end Pound for Pound ranking from Ring Magazine, listing the December rankings for that year.

Couple things to point out though.

The poll they list for 1986, was actually taken in 1987, about 4 months into the year for 1987 too. It was not a year end poll. ANd the poll listed here for 1987, is actually the pound for pound listing by KO magazine taken from April 1988 issue of KO which corresponded to December of 1987.

Unlike the Other listing here up to 1988, this was simply the Magazine's listing and NOT a poll consisting of 9, writers, announcers, promoters, managers, historians and THEN KO Mags top 10 listing. For 1987, it was simply the Mag's compilation.

ANd then they continue with that from 1989 to present.

It is nice to see the 2006 year end Poll that shows Marco Antonio Barrera occupying the #6 spot though. WHen the Ring did the Poll for 2006, they mistabulated and Marco did not merit a top 10 ranking for that years year end ranking. He SHOULD have finished, like the RIng had him in their Mag, #6.

I made mention of this to them some time back, but they apparently refuse to make the correction.

I know silly stuff. Then again, I'm a silly man.

    Re: Ring Magazine P4P History

it's a lot of shit, and another element of what kills boxing,

and then the birth of the 0 record madness - easy to do with only a couple of handful of fights, all shit!

    ONE World Champion,
12 weight divisions - allowing for this day and age,
    National Champions
    Regional Champions

    Proper & FORCED Eliminator fights!!!

all this equates to Real Champions and Contenders - True Greats and Alltime recognition!

    Re: Ring Magazine P4P History

To Jim's excellent suggestions I'll add 15-round World Championship fights, 12 round National Championship fights, and performance based ratings.

How do we force fights without stripping titles or rankings, though? I hate title strippings!
