Did Bert Sugar die?
Yes, One of our boxing brothers is gone. This is a very sad day for me and the world. I could listen to him all day. R.I.P. friend.
I was very sad to hear this, I shared some great times together with Bert, at some of my big fights, on radio trying to stump each other with boxing questions to the delight of the audience, another time on a national TV interview with me Bert and Rubin Carter and on some boxing projects. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.
R.I.P.
Very sad ...

Bert Sugar's writing and the overall excellence of Ring when he had it are two of the main things that got my young self interested in boxing history. My fifteenth birthday wish was a subscription to Ring AND the record book...
Thanks Bert.
RIP
Rest in Peace Bert. You won't be forgotten.
Randy
Bert Sugar's writing got me massively into boxing. He was a great old school character, very sad that he is gone. Is that the last of the great boxing writers?
Guy was really colorful, well spoken, knew how to make boxing stories interesting, and was great for boxing. The go to guy for interviews and documentaries. He will be missed.
Very sorry to learn of Bert's passing. I interviewed him once for the CBZ -- super nice guy: http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/w52x-ej.htm
