Sky says no to Vitali-Haye Pay-Per-View fight
March 30th, 2012
By William Mackay: SKY Sports has reportedly turned down the idea of a pay per view fight between former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye and Vitali Klitschko for the summer, according to the Telegraph. Vitali’s manager Bernd Boete spoke with Sky about the idea of putting the Klitschko-Haye fight on PPV but there wasn’t much interest from Sky in putting that fight on.
It looks like Vitali has made it clear to his manager Boente that he wants the Haye fight because Boente was saying that the Haye fight wouldn’t happen at the post fight press conference after Vitali’s recent win over Dereck Chisora last month.
It looks like Vitali and Haye will have to go in another direction if they want to show the Haye vs Vitali fight in the UK. Haye obviously hasn’t helped himself by staying inactive since his last fight, a loss to Wladimir Klitschko, last July. Haye was also involed with a brawl with Chisora after the Vitali fight and there’s big questions as to whether Haye will be able to get his boxing license back from the British Boxing Board of Control, and whether the WBC will sanction a Vitali-Haye fight. Vitali has a lot of pull, however, and if he really wants the Haye fight then he’ll likely get it.
