Just keep trying, little one. You didn't point out any sort of "mistake" or "contradiction" simply because there wasn't one. I said in my post (it's still there, if you want to read it -- it may take me a bit of time to find the number) that I didn't know why I was bringing it up because it had nothing to do with Dempsey -- and then I corrected myself by admitting that I simply liked the mental image of seeing 1000 Carneras punching it out with one Ali. It's all there, and the post hasn't been rewritten or anything.
In any case, the remark was a beautiful illustration of what a keen logical machine the old Shoemaker's mind really is: Carnera didn't have 1/1000th of Ali's ability. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I think 1000 Dakota Fannings would be able to kick the shit out of Ali if they attacked him en masse, not to mention what 1000 Carneras would do to the poor guy.
Keep trying, though. Just like slow cooked spaghetti: if you throw enough of it against a wall, eventually some of it will stick. You'll make a salient point yet, I'll betcha.
Unless Mike finds out where you live first, of course -- in which case I'll be sure to send flowers to your hospital room. PeteLeo.

Barry, why retreat to the personal messages when the asshole called us out here? And then he "protests" over how the thread is being degraded by our responses. Is that enough gall?
As the jerk himself pointed out, I hadn't made a single post on this thread, and to my way of thinking it had been cruising right along smoothly, in an entertaining fashion, accomplishing the goal it had set in the beginning until he decided to make it into something else. Maybe you've noticed, but if I'm called out in public, that's exactly where I respond. If he feels he has the gonads to continue his stupid tirades on the PM side, that's fine and dandy, too, but I think he craves the spotlight a little too much for that.
If you're one of the bosses here, do what you think is best for the site. It won't be the first place to bounce me, and I understand that the health of the board is more important than my personal code of conduct. PeteLeo.

sorry shoemaker I couldnt find the one w/ dempsey at the sermon on the mount, seems photography wasnt around yet, lol .. anyways theres a large collection out there... these mainly come from the antekprizering.com site (use their search feature), corbis.com & a google image search ... I tried to pick ones out that are more rare... this site allows only 10images at a time, so I'll post them in continuum... dempsey had wide-ranging fame and a long career, so theres a lot of volume... if some of these dont come up, its probaly the corbis.com site... its hit and miss in re to getting the images to insert... you guys may want to check out that site... just use key words in their search engine... theres a ton of stuff out there on any known name...

if you checked out the series of 5pgs of dempsey photos I posted last nite and some were missing... I went back, fixed it & added some more... the vast majority or all should be working now... I was curious I was looking for that photo of dempsey walking into the ring in the willard fight w/ a closeup on his taped hands showing pretty clearly they werent plastered... I couldnt find it anywhere... does anyone have it... please post it... its in kahn's book... also couldnt find the shot when dempsey lands flooring left hook on sharkey... anyone got that? ...

lastly, If any of you are having problems posting photos b/c the image insert feature isnt working for some photos (I know on the corbis.com site it doesnt)... there is another method that will work for virtually any online photo... thanks to kikibalt on the help... below are the directions to use this other method... not hard to do... see below:

When you fine a pic. you want r. click on it ,r click on
"Save as" it should go to your pics. in your computer from there go to TINYPIC.COM, click on the Browse and open the pic. that you want post, click on upload image, then highlight (IMG) then hold "CTRL and the C key for a second then go to CBZ fine where you want to post the pic. when you fine the place hold CTRL and the V key for a second then click on submit, that should do it.
