Punching Power Measurements?

Does anyone know of the results of any tests done on punching power? Aside from Marciano's foot-pounds measurement on the ballistic pendulum, do you know of any other test results?

I believe that Ring Magazine ran a story a while back on this (during the '80's, where the mentioned previous "scores" and also tested, among others, Earnie Shavers). I have even heard rumors about Fitzsimmons and Jeffries being tested.

More recently, I have tried to contact the more recent contenders (Byrd, Peter, the Klitschkos) through their "contact" options, but I haven't received any information back (although either Peter or, more likely, a Peter employee, sent me back an interesting account of him trying one of the "test your power" machines for fun before the Klitschko fight).

At any rate, can anybody help me out?

I saw results for Fitzsimmons, Jeffries and Sam McVey listed in an old newspaper article, which McVey had the highest rating, but I have not been able to locate the article.

Back in the late 60's-early 70's, Ring Magazine did an article on punch testing done in Detroit with crash test dummies used in automotive testing with Al "Blue" Lewis, who packed a pretty decent punch...seems like the results were someting like being in 40 MPH car wreck or something.

I can't remember the exact date, but it was during the period when Lewis was ranked in the top ten. I wonder whatever happened to that guy? I remember Leotis Martin knocked him out of the ring in a KO victory and when he fought Ali in Dublin, Ireland. he said thank you to the ref when the fight was stopped.

Last I heard, Al trains boxers in Detroit. I met him once when he fought in Oklahoma City circa 1973. A really nice guy.
