    Thanks Gor!

Good evening CBZers and welcome to the Cyber Boxing Zone’s exclusive, live coverage of the Shane Mosley – Fernando Vargas rematch. Tonight’s fight is scheduled for 12 rounds or less in the Jr. Middleweight division. I’ll be providing round-by-round coverage of tonight’s main event and will also keep you up to date on this evening’s undercard bouts. So keep your fingers crossed and hope AOL doesn’t crash on me.

Both fighters made weight and looked ripped & ready to go at the weigh-in. The first advantage was gained by team Mosley yesterday, when a judge issued a court order preventing Fernando Vargas from drinking Gatorade between rounds. Of course the fighters on the undercard can all use Gatorade. To paraphrase Don King, Only in Nevada.

I'll be back with news from the opening bout shortly...

    Re: Mosely-Vargas II Results & Discussion 7/15/06

Henry Mitchell puts up a pretty good fight but looses a 40 – 36 decision to Philly’s Rock Allen. Allen moves to 9-0.

Juan Diaz and Randy Suico will duke it out for Diaz’s WBA Lightweight Championship in about 10 minutes. And now, a word from our sponsor – the nice people at Guinness!

Juan Diaz takes an action-packed round one. Suico takes a couple of really hard shots without blinking.

Diaz on a roll with rounds two & three on his side of the scorecard. You get the feeling if Suico would take the fight on the outside it might be an even more interesting bout.

    Re: Mosely-Vargas II Results & Discussion 7/15/06

Lampley & Manny are saying that Diaz doesn’t have any real power, but the shots he landed in round four looked pretty darn good to me. Suico’s corner asks him if he wants to continue…

Diaz is a machine tonight. Suico lands is best shots of the fight around the 1:20 mark and Diaz bombs right back at Randy with some of his best shots.

More of the same in round 6 but in the 7th Diaz slows down a bit and Suico wins his first round of the fight.

It looks like Diaz is trying to walk through Suico now. Juan's pace is back but if he did have real power he'd have stopped Randy by now. Punchstats have him landing somewhere over 300 shots through round 8.

Diaz closes the show at 2:06 of round 9. Nothing that hadn't landed before but Suico was slowing badly when Joe Cortez saved him. Diaz lands 352 of 435; Suico goes 98 for 840.

Diaz has plenty of power to put some hurt on. He's a nonstop punching machine. What he lacks is size and strength. Power is nice to have, but Diaz packs plenty extras into his total package. He may not be long for this game, but he's an exciting fighter that I enjoyed watching.

Daniel Ponce De Leon just knocked Sod the **** O U T and onto his face at :52 of the first round. Sod layed face down on the canvas for well over 15 seconds from a crushing left hand that he walked into.

Roberto---- Diaz throw a lot of punchs but you have to be able to have some power if you are going to be able to stay with the top guys.

Roberto---Diaz does have strength, he is strong as a bull, and he has good size, what he does't have is a ko punch, he would have a hard time staying with a Corrales, Castillo and a Mayweather.

Hey Steve you're doing a terrific job. I liked your commercial gulp, gulp, Guiness break. Both me & Mrs. Bucket really cracked up when we read it.

Diaz is smaller than the above and he is not a strong lightweight. He's quick, very active, and focused. He could easily fight at 130.

Ponce de Leon is very heavy handed. He's slow at the weight however and will have problems with quick stylists. Different attributes can still yield titles.
