Jose Becerra vs Alphonse Halimi

Frank, I always considred Becerra a harder puncher than Zarate and Olivares. you've seen them all, what do you think?
The rugged Halimi was only KO'd twice (by Becerra) and stopped on cuts once! Becerra is aso the only fighter to stop former bantamweight champion Mario D'Agata. On Becerra's run to the title after his stoppage loss to Dwight Hawkins, he KO'd/stopped 13 of 15 opponents with KOs over D'Agata, Billy Peacock, Dwight Hawkins, Willie Parker, Jose Luis Mora, Gaetano Annaloro. He had genuine one punch knockout power. It's a shame he is overlooked when folks talk about outstanding bantamweights.
"Becerra rushed from his corner to start the ninth. Halimi tried to catch the onrushing Becerra with a right hand but missed. Becerra countered with a terrific right to the heart that caused Halimi to wince and followed with a left hook with full leverage that caught Halimi on the chin and dropped him flat on his back for the full count. Nat Fleischer, editor of “The Ring” reported from ringside. ” Mexico has furnished many top ringmen to the fistic world but none more popular than Jose Becerra, world bantamweight champion. Striking with the deadliness of a cobra, the Guadalajara fighter, in a dramatic finish, retained his world crown by stopping Alphonse Halimi, challenger in 48 seconds of the ninth round. One well placed left hook that crashed against the jaw of the challenger, stiffened Halimi’s neck, dropped him like a log on the canvas where he was counted out". My late gym friend Keeny Teran in 1956. He was busted on a drug charge. Keeny was one of the best fighter to come from the Johnny Forbes stable in the early 1950's. A sure champ and maybe an all time great if not for the his drug habit. I am proud to have known him, albeit; only in the gym. I used to see him often in the gyms in the early '50's, then lost track of him until he started coming to see Frankie and Tony as they started their pro careers. The following photos are of his days in the courts/jail.
