    TUNNEY/DEMPSEY I & II

Can i get these two 10 rd fights on one tape or DVD in good quality?

Full fights with original commentary? Not littered with graphics, new commentary & bullshit courtesy of ESPN Classic etc? Do they have any pre or post fight material?

Sorry for all the questions but i dunno what footage is doing the rounds.

How about Dempseys fights with Jess Willard, Luis Angel Firpo and Carpentier? All of this would fitr on one tape i believe?

Can anyone give memor einfo let me know whats out there, who the best source is etc?

    Thanks guys!

I have fight 2 complete, slient, no commantary.sort of.
crowd roaring, with looping on the crowd roaring.

    My Firpo fight IS BAD.

Cant trade YET. As I working on getting Dempsey 1.
Not sure if its complete, but it will be about 8 rounds or complete, I not sure how it will look and all.

Getting a DVD recorder this chrismas, so if you wait. I could get em on DVD.

My Carp fight is Espn classic. Bars and all.

I notice you left of the Gibbions fight.

it may be complete- the first fight i only have 5 rounds. the secong was complete- both i have were not good quality and far away. the legendary chapoins will be out on dvd - its all digtitallized- so the firpo fight is damn clear- digitak is the way to go- its brings it out so well . my film are better than the dvds, some times do to quality- mostly cause a can play it on a wall and make the size of the wall- not bad for 1910 and later.

Do these fights usually come with or without sound?

Im sure i saw highlights on a documentary and the fights had crowd noise & an old fashioned commentary?

I guess i would prefer with sound, just not fuckin ESPN classic with fuckin Al Bernstein et al rambling over them.

The commantry is added in the ESPN days, I belive.

Any fight before 1930 or so, in the most part is slient.

actual sound on film, real time, was not invented until 1927, apporximately- the al joson film was the first feature to have actual sound

    Not true on that.

Don Wane, who was a bigger slashbucket type of actor star in the "FIRST" sound film.

No words, they just had the blades having clinging nosies. But that was it.,

I guess Al had the first Talkie.

actually Jolson's film used the old Vitaphone system which synched the film to a record.

I've read (somewhere) that experimental "soundies" were being produced as early as 1915 (and maybe all the way back to 1905!). THE JAZZ SINGER was just the first really big hit that featured some synchronized sound (it was partially silent). There was a horror flick called, appropriately, THE TERROR that some now denote as being the real first all-talkie. I believe that designation is also bestowed by others on a crime film called MUSKETEERS OF PIG ALLEY (or something like that). PeteLeo.

    hi

Did Al do ok in Talkies???

Because Doulgas Fair banks while great in Slient films, was TERRIBLE in talkies.
