    Chris Byrd v Jimmy Young

2002. Vacant IBF title. Holyfield pulls out with arm injury, Jimmy Young circa 1976-78 is brought in. Fight specially scheduled to run 15 rds.

Yeah a few minor plot holes, but who's frustrating style of boxing comes out on top? Byrd or Young..........?

Young, in a walk. In the dullest fight of all time.

    Thank you Overhand.

I have suffered from insomnia for the past few years and counting sheep and sawing logs has failed miserably.

Lying in bed and envisioning Jimmy and Chris meeting in a boxing ring has given me new hope and may just be the cure I've been looking for.

    I think I just yawned.

Jimmy Young by UD. First defense: Ernie Terrell.

I have to strongly disagree here. ruiz vs holyfield would be duller.

What about Ruiz v Akinwande, or Ruiz v Donald, or any combination of said.

Young wins and then defends again Jimmy Ellis. Young-Ellis would be a great fight if anybody could follow the action. Fast action? Bloody!

These two may very well cancel each other out and result in a messy, dull fight where both fighters cause each other to miss with many shots.

Jimmy Young often looked his best against the slower, hard punching agressive types, as is well documented, and Byrd is a very different animal.

Having said all that Jimmy Young rumbled with ring monsters that Byrd never had to deal with and slayed many of them.

Young has the skills to out think and out point Byrd over 15 rounds in a dull fight.

But as long as Joe Bugner gets to fight the winner I'm happy.

Overhand Didn't you once mock me for making this match-up on another forum??

Glad to see that you have come round to my way of thinking.

I have a Pound For Pound matchup

I wake up having Bed Sweats about:

    Sammy Angott vs John Ruiz.

Pound for Pound, who was more "clutch"?

I'd take Sammy to "hold on" for the decision.

"Thank you folks. I'll be here all week. Be sure to try the veal."

jimmy sparred with Ali , frazier, and holmes. he fought them all, from lyle to shavers, from foreman to norton. I don't think byrd would have had a chance.
now young/klitschko would have been interesting...
