    Dan

I jsut saw the Ring HOF rankings.

    Thanks!

Does anyone know if the IBHOF simpy absorbed the Ring HOF inductees? Or did they start from scratch.

It's been years since I saw this RING HOF list and I suppose I could do a comaparitive viewing, but it does have me wondering if this HOF just simply went defunct and Canastota simply started over.

    ANyone know?

I understand that NOBODY hated to be challenged in his opinions more than Nat Fleischer. Hawk, you probably have the old guy spinning in his grave right now.

On the occasion of Jim Jeffries' 75th birthday party, ole Nat had the gall to get into an argument with Jeffries about whether Jack Johnson was the greatest heavyweight champion of all time!

My understanding is that the new Hall is a new deal. They list different induction dates, not the old ones from the Ring Magazine HOF.

Also, the catagories are slightly different. As I recall, heavyweight Jack Dempsey is a "modern" fighter in the Ring HOF, but an "old-timer" in the IBHOF.

True, but getting a dead guy spinning would be a greater accomplishment!

    Just so you know

    I also do Kids parties.

Thanks for pointing the obvious out to me re the HOF dates.

Sad thing is Ray, Right at my desk, I have a copy of the Latest edition of the Boxing Register AND a copy of the last edition of the Ring Record book (1987). So I have two sources with BOTH sets of information that I could easily have validated.

    How's THAT for lazy?

Here is writer Ed Linn of True Magazine's account of the fight.

    Hi Dan:

Nat had some pretty interesting exhibits in the old Ring Magazine HOF, some of it really museum-quality stuff. Do you know what happened to that stuff?

I've heard several stories, but have never been able to pin down where they ended up.

moderns were from around 1920 for the ring magizine.--or at least from 1916 the last sched heavy 45 round fight--circa 1916 to 20 as both leanaord and dempsey were title holders before 20 but after 1916.

Watching this fight confirms what I've always believed and that is that Frazier-Marciano may be the ultimate heavyweight fantasy fight in terms of toe to toe action.

I do think Frazier was the busier fighter on the inside and more difficult to hit at close range. Marciano's more dangerous with both hands though.
