Frank
That is wonderful news Frank,
a most deserved honor, your family must be very proud.
Best wishes to you and my best to your two fine sons,
your pal,
Ron Lipton
Thanks Ron.
Felicidades, Kiki:
My "new and improved" computer was down for a couple of days and my very capable daughter Didi just got it back to useful again, so I'm a bit late in telling you that it was a real treat to learn about your being honored. You will be the standard bearer for all those father-managers who have walked the walk before and perhaps didn't get the recognition they deserved.
I am truly happy for you, pal, and I can just imagine how your boys and the rest of the family feels.
Arriba Kiki!
Your friend, Hap
Congratulations, Frank! When I come out to California, I'll have to toast you on this great accomplishment.
Cheers,
Juan
Hap & Juan:
Thanks for your kind words, it's going to be great to have my name along side the great hall of famers all ready there, such as my pal Hap Navarro.
Frank
See u there Frank

All my best to you and yours Frank, congrats!
Hey Frank,
Way to go! My favorite boxing family represented in the CA HOF. Means a lot to us fans. You are a class act.
Its been a great honor to know you through the internet, my friend.
Tim
Tim & Ricky:
Thanks to two classic guys.
Frank
With all the big names that I'm hearing that are going to be inducted this year, I'm going to feel like Ross Perot's running mate, James Stockdale, who during Perot's 1992 presidential candidacy said " Who am I? what am I doing here? ".
Frank
LOL, that is good. But of course the Baltazar name is biggest for me.

"The Good Man"
The good man's history flies away before him
like a dance-partner's broken string of cultured pearls,
leaving him holding all those glowing memories
in the goblet of his upturned hands.
And people rush to bring him more, more
reasons for his generous thanksgiving.
Blessed from birth with a good
family, a good mind, a good
sense of humor, good nature and his gift,
the good man multiplies his talents
a hundredfold, blessing from their births
his own good children,
and participating in creation
in other joyful ways as well.
In the picture-book garden of virtues,
without fanfare, without flags,
the good man gently illustrates honor.
Gray-haired, smiling, he holds
toward the reader his joined hands,
a bowl brimming with light.

Congratulations Frank, an honor well deserved !!

Thanks Cat: for your beautiful and thoughtful words, much appreciated here.
Is that your own composition?
Frank
Frank,
I often re-read my old boxing magazines, and whenever I come across a fight report of Frankie or Tony and see Frank Sr. written now I think, "I KNOW that guy". Which, I might add, while I don't really as well as I'd like or should, is a thrill for a fan such as myself.
So many of us fans have either missed out on the 'glory days' by way of being born too late... or wish we could have lived a life closer to the sport than we have.
You've seen quite a bit.. and being able to chat with you is really a great thing for me and I am sure all of us. Thanks for answering questions and giving your time to the site.
Again, Congrats and be proud.
Thanks Chris:
I enjoy talking (Cyber-Talking) with guys like you, people like myself, Ron, Gordoom, Hap and some other old timers enjoy sharing our experience in the world of boxing, and I think that all of us do it without putting on any air's or trying to give the impression that we know it all, though we been around the sport many, many years, we, I think all of us would say, we are still learning.
Thanks again,Chris.

Nah ! I wrote a poem about Max Baer once that my professor liked, but I'll stick with the non-fiction stuff. My school quarter, and my impending graduation (finally at age 43 !) are 11 days away and its been very ugly so I haven't been on the forum in ages. I was reading about your induction for the first time last night and the kind of gentleman you are reminded me of a poem I'd read recently that could say in words what I could not. I'm glad you liked it and congratulations again it couldn't have happened to a nicer man.Originally Posted by kikibalt

There once was a fightman named Frank.
His boys beat up boys for the bank.
Then the time came to be,
and he declared yesirree,
my boys, they were always top rank!
Cat & Roberto:
You guys're great.
Frank
Ooh I love limericks ! Here's my pathetic stab at one:
There once was a fightman named Baltazar
With sons who's hands held a shining star
Fight wisdom he gave them
Showered love without shame
Now Papá is inducted
Into the Boxing Hall of Fame !
=)~~~
Cat
There once was a fightman from C-A
he posts here with us everyday.
His boys were enshrined
and for Frank this was fine
but now its his turn to have a big day
