Anyone catch Yorgey-Hearns last night or that puke of a matchup for Dirrell?
I think it's time for little hitman to find another line of work. The only thing he has in common with his father is his chin.
Haha. I actually didn't think he was THAT bad considering he started boxing so late. If he had been bred & brought up the ranks, he might have been something. But yes, apparently that chin runs in the family. I admired the fact he at least tried to fight it out instead of run.
Fights like what Dirrell had really turn me off. He is beyond taking fights like that & the fact he let his guy hang around that long didn't do any favors in his career.
I thought he showed a lot of guts. My feeling is that if he would have played it a little more safely he would have probably out boxed Yorgey with his jab.
Not to make excuses, but I think Hearns was over-trained a bit. I've seen him fight in person and he had good snap on his shots. He didn't seem to have any power on Saturday night. He only weighed in at 151 3/4 for a 154 pound fight. Yorgey was actually 155 on his first try.
Hearns looked too light to me. Had he come in a little heavier I think he would have had better pop on his shots, been a little stronger and probably have been able to stand up to Yorgey a little better.
But that's just my two cents.
You could be right. He did look uncomfortably gaunt. Regardless, I have to credit Yorgey for keeping Hearns honest, which could have been the difference in itself.
It looked to me that he was fighting on his heels. He wasn't stepping into his punches. The question is does he have the heart to come back from this lost. It must be hard for him being the son of a great Champion.
Especially as he didn't get to really get into the gym until he'd finished his degree. He shouldn't and can't be compared to his dad simply because he doesn't have that amatuer pedigree that Tommy got.
I think before completely writing Jnr off he deserves to show if he uses this as a learning experience or not.
thats whaty you get for bein a part time fighter
