Rotating on my Hi-Fi this week have been,
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.
The Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society.
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest.
Shonen Knife - Burning Farm.
I youtube a lot these days KO and I'll buzz through anything from Englebert to Peter Frampton. I also like to lookand listen to greats I never really new much about when I was younger... Robin Trower, King Crinsom, Maggie Bell - Stoning the Crows... any and everything that pops into my mind, lately Rory Gallager, Captain Beyond, Yes and much, much more!
btw anybody in the L.A area know if that young kid who plays on Hollywood Blvd ever made it? An exceptional guitarist, long light brown hair really methodical in his playing - cool & gracefully 'slowhand,' plays all the great guitarist 60s, 70s he's into Santana. Just excellent he is, he can't be much more that 23. I seen him in 2006, I imagine he hung about for awhile I hope he's made it somehow. I've tried to find him on youtube but no luck.

Anyway - I'm listening to the Fleet Foxes and Midlake quite a bit at the moment both 'modern' bands but with a strong 60s/70s sound. Particularly like the Foxes who I saw live recently: just fantastic harmonies.

Gordon Lightfoot is an underrated Canadian singer/songwriter. Carefree Highway has to be one of the theme songs of my life.
Pete, as a shy 18 year old relocating to LA in the fall of 71, Neil was my touchstone falling asleep at nite in the Big City. His record speaks for itself, and he has so far surpassed any of the other CSN'ers as far as solo career goes, it doesn't need to be mentioned. A TRUE ICON (with a goodly number of losers in his resume, don't they all?)
Quite simply, another great product from the beloved country of Canada!!!
P.S.: tho I do think that Steve Stills has one of the most unique voices in the history of contemporary music...
