I know Nunn destroyed him but I was watching Tates early bouts and he was a slick boxer with pop in his righthand.I feel he is a little underrated at times.Anyone share that opinion?

I thought he was a good overall fighter. Won gold against a very tough Sean O'Sullivan in the 1984 Olympics and looked good in his pro bouts, demonstrating heart, good boxing skills, and a decent punch.
Didn't turn out to be great, but losing to Nunn at that time was nothing to be ashamed of, either.
One of those guys who was a much better amateur than pro. He was a solid/decent guy who could beat B guys and compete with and even beat some B+/A- guys, but couldn't beat any A fighters. I think overall you'd have to say his career was a bit of a disappointment given the fact that he had been a gold medalist. But a decent/solid career nevertheless.
I can only echo the above statements regarding Frank Tate. Nearly went to his fight against an old Tony Sibson, but it had sold out.
I always thought Frank Tate vs Micheal Watson would have been a good fight.
I still think O'Sullivan beat him.
..and that Shawn lost to Tiozzo.
Tate? Ok. Lacked versatility in my book. If he couldn't fundamental you; or, if you weren't weaker than eh was, he was in trouble against guys who were excellent at things he was merely good at.

beat Olajide. But never expected him to progress much further than he did.
I also thought O'Sullivan beat Tate.
