Cappiello: "Ayala's 100-Percent Ready For Abraham
Press Release
Just moments after undefeated IBF Middleweight Champion Arthur Abraham (25-0, 20 KO's) and challenger Elvin Ayala (18-2-1, 8 KO's) weighed in, exactly at the 160-pound middleweight limit, Ayala's promoter, Rich Cappiello, was cautiously optimistic about his fighter's chances in tomorrow night's title bout. "Elvin is one-hundred-percent ready, physically and mentally," Cappiello stated. He looks and feels terrific, and he's just ready to get in the ring and fight. We're hoping that Elvin can pull off the upset, and bring the IBF title back to the States!"
The Abraham - Ayala bout will take place in the Sparkassen-Arena in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The 13,000-seat arena is one of the countries largest indoor sporting facilities.

CBZ Message Board Staying Put
Despite claims by Yuku/EZ Board

SOMEWHERE in the netherworld of cyberspace, longtime members of the CBZ message boards have been receiving emails saying the boards have moved to "Yuku." These claims are simply not true.
These emails are being sent out by our former message-board provider, EZ-Board, which we stopped using two years ago. The folks at EZ-Board apparently have our old members' email addresses, and they're emailing everyone saying that the abandoned site has moved.
In short: Ignore the emails; we're not moving anywhere.

Photo of the Day: Michael Hirsley & His Wife
By Juan C. Ayllon

Long-time Chicago Tribune boxing scribe Michael Hirsley with his wife at David Diaz's open workout this last Thursday. Now retired from the Tribune, he occasionally still writes pieces for them and has now taken on a once-a-month gig with ESPN.com. A great writer and a wonderful human being, he is one of the true bright lights behind the scenes in boxing today.

Photo of the Day: Michael Walker at Ringside
By Juan C. Ayllon

Michael 'The Midnight Stalker' Walker at right with his friend, 'Macho' Miguel Hernandez at ringside in Cicero, Illinois.
This past Saturday, Walker made his Chicago and Indiana fans proud in jarring dangerous former title challenger Antwun Echols several times in their exciting main event bout on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights en route to a majority decision draw.
Taking this bout on less than 24 hours, Walker (18-0-1, 12 KO's) took a major step up in competion at the Paragon Casino & Resort in Marksville, Louisiana, where Walker gave a good account of himself against Echols (31-7-3, 27 KO's). As you may remember, Echols gave then IBF Middleweight Champion Bernard Hopkins all he could handle and then some before succumbing to Hopkins in the 10th round by TKO in December 2000.
