De La Hoya to Sport Dynamo Colors Saturday Night

LOS ANGELES, CA – Acknowledging his newly acquired ownership in Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo, as well as the fact that he will be fighting at the Home Depot Center's soccer stadium Saturday night, legendary champion Oscar de la Hoya will accent his robe and trunks with the Dynamo's "forever orange" color for his fight against Steve Forbes. The fight will be televised live on HBO's World Championship Boxing.
"Since this is my first fight as part owner of the Dynamo, I thought it would be fitting to represent the team by wearing their 'forever orange' color as a part of my ring outfit Saturday night," said De La Hoya, who will also be wearing a Dynamo team patch on his shorts. "They are actually playing the same night I am fighting and I have a great feeling we will both come out victorious."
"Homecoming"—On Saturday, May 3, De La Hoya will face former world champion Steve Forbes, in what will be the first-ever boxing event at The Home Depot Center's soccer stadium. The bout will also mark De La Hoya's return home to fight for the first time in Los Angeles since 2000 as well as his return to HBO's World Championship Boxing for the first time since 2001. Homecoming" is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Tournament of Contenders, AEG and The Home Depot Center and is sponsored by Cazadores, Tecate, Rockstar Energy Drink, Southwest Airlines and Affliction Clothing. The match up will be televised live by HBO's World Championship Boxing beginning at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.

Houston Dynamo—In addition to consecutive league titles, the Dynamo advanced to the semifinal of the preseason CONCACAF Champions Cup, and semifinal of the first-ever SuperLiga. Dynamo star Pat Onstad became the first goalkeeper to win three MLS Cup Championships, and Onstad was a force behind the team's modern-day, professional team sports shutout record of 727 minutes without allowing a goal. Dwayne De Rosario became the league's first two-time MLS Cup MVP. Aside from the team's on-field success in 2006 and 2007, the Dynamo enjoyed three consecutive record-setting crowds of over 30,000 toward the end of last season. The franchise was also nominated for El Premio de la Gente , (Sports Team of the Year) by TV Azteca. Dynamo players were honored at The White House, and the Texas State Capitol in 2007.

Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero Delivers Motivational Speech to Students

GILROY, Calif., April 24, 2008--Two-Time world champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero will speak to students at Las Animas Elementary, as they prepare for their annual CTS test.
Guerrero's motivational speech focuses on preparation, comparing what he goes through before a fight to what a student might go through before a test. The assembly will take place this Thursday, April 24 at 1:00 P.M. in the multipurpose room. Las Animas Elementary is located at 6550 Cimino St. in Gilroy California.
"When I'm training for a fight, Its all about preparation. You have to be ready at all times," Guerrero said. "The same principles apply to students who are getting ready for a test. The physical and mental aspects are so important. I'm going to touch on those points and do my best to motivate these students to be well prepared for their big test coming up."
