AMATEUR BOXING AT HILTON HOTEL, PORTLAND, OR –SUNDAY, OCT. 2

DOWNTOWN RUMBLE

The Knott Street Boxing Club is hosting an amateur boxing matinee (titled "Downtown Rumble") in the Grand Ballroom of the Portland Hilton Hotel, 921 SW 6th Ave. on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2005 starting at 1 p.m.

Amateur boxers from the Knott Street Boxing Club and the Pacific Northwest will compete against boxers from California. Most of the bouts will involve open senior boxers including 2004 Olympic Alternate, Ray Lampkin III of the Knott St. Team.

In the 15 bouts of three rounds each, most of the boxers will be 16 years old or more, but there will be some younger kids competing as well. All boxers wear protective headgear, and the show is conducted under supervision of the Oregon Association of U.S. Amateur Boxing, Inc. This is a cheerful family atmosphere, offering positive support to young athletes.

The Knott St. Boxing Team is a non-profit organization based at the Matt Dishman Community Center. It is supported entirely by volunteer coaches, John Peters, Joel Caldera, Rudy Garza, and Ray Milton. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Knott Street Team to help pay for gym rental, insurance, equipment and travel expenses for regional boxing matches and tournaments.

General admission $20 in advance, $25 at the door
Children (12 and under) $10
