Mayorga free on bail -- accused of having unconsented anal sex
By Mike DeLisa

Notwithstanding other reports, Ricardo Mayorga is not under "house arrest" in Nicaragua. Mayorga has been accused by a 22-year-old of raping her at a Managua Hotel.

Upon returning to Nicaragua following his kayo loss to Tito Trinidad, the local prosecutor revealed the specific charges: On August 31, Mayorga took the girl by force, inserted his penis into her vagina, and afterwards in her anus. These acts occurred in a hotel where both had gone to have sexual relations. The victim, however, contends that she had not agreed to have sexual relations "against nature" (i.e. the anal sex).

Mayorga escaped being sent to jail, althought he court has required him to notify the Court should he need to leave the country for medical treatment or to collect his purse for the Trinidad fight. He also posted a bail of about $9375 dollars. He needs to report to Court every 15 days, stay out of establishments serving alcohol, stay away from crowds, and, above all, make no attempt to see the victim. He is also denied the ability to telephone witnesses.

The next court date is November 25, 2004. This date is also the celebration of the the "International Day against Violence."

Ralph Citro, Boxing Hall-of-Famer PassesBy Jim Amato Boxing legend Ralph Citro has passed away at the age of 78. Ralph's contributions to boxing have been numerous and he received recognition for his efforts a few years ago when he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame in Canastota, N.Y.

Ralph earned a reputation as a top flight cut man throughout his association with the sport. Nevertheless Ralph's contributions go far beyond that.He began the publication Computer Boxing Update in 1984 and it evolved into a standard for the upkeep of boxing records. Ralph had Computer Boxing Update until 1993, when he sold the company. Then he took over as Director of the International Boxing Research Organization (I.B.R.O. ).

I became a member of I.B.R.O. around 1994. I had never met Ralph but I've talked to him on numerous occasions. To me I.B.R.O. is boxing's best kept secret. Ralph worked hard to give I.B.R.O. a rock solid foundation. Ralph handed over the directoship to the very capable Dan Cuoco in the year 2000. Dan has done an excellent job. I'm sure Ralph was very proud.

My sympathy goes out to Ralph's family. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by the boxing community.
